We were pleased to host the annual House Republican Issues Conference for the Republican Members of Congress from March 23 – March 25 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Many Members said this was one of our best events. We greatly appreciate the support and participation of so many people and groups who make this conference a success each year!

You could feel the energy and determination of House Republicans, especially the Task Force leaders, who discussed with colleagues their ideas and strategies for next year’s majority. Our keynote speakers were equally exciting. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich gave a powerful speech about House Republicans’ Commitment to America, calling the overall strategic takeover being led by Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy “the largest, most inclusive, and most systematic issue development effort [he has] ever seen.” You can read more on his blog. Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice shared her thoughts on how the United States could use a variety of means to counteract Russian aggression in Ukraine. And author and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy spoke about the importance of preserving meritocracy and freedom of thought and expression in the face of attacks on these American ideals in the public square.

We honored the legacy of Representative Don Young (R-AK) at dinner on Thursday, March 24, with a slide show featuring tributes from colleagues. The USO was onsite for Members and their families to put together 1,000 care packages for our troops. K9s for Warriors, which is headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, also came by to talk with Members about their important mission to pair military veterans with service dogs.

The Congressional Institute was founded in 1987 to organize and run the annual conferences for House Republicans. The late Republican Leader Bob Michel’s initial vision was to get his colleagues out of the Beltway and away from schedules that box their lives into 15-minute meetings, committee hearings, and racing to votes. Each year since – with the exception of 2020 – the Congressional Institute has sponsored the strategy meetings that has seen two Republican House takeovers. The substantive ideas that Republican Members propose and discuss have led to solutions for the American people, and this year was no different. We look forward to seeing these solutions help solve the very real challenges our country is facing.
